Good book. Not flawless, but well done on many levels. A thoroughly scientific recasting of the Age of Discovery with First Contact now happening in the future, off planet. By Jesuits.

I rarely have the chance to get through an entire book these days (sticking to periodicals, the wonderbread of the mind) but this one brought me back until the (quite satisfying) end.
